Focus on Long Bead Chains

Lomg Bead Chains

Long bead chains help students practice skip counting. They help students develop memorization of multiplication facts and prepare them to work with multiples, divisibility and square numbers.
Students count the beads and place the arrows on the multiples of the number.  They then flip over the numbers, trying count by the multiples, turning the cards back over to check they are right. In Montessori, this is called the "Control of Error".  Room 5 students used the pink 3-chains to help them solve a problem that required them to find the multiples of 3.
